WESTERN GOVERNORS UNIVERSITY
You Shouldn't Have to Choose Between Service and Education
Flexible Education for Your Busy Life
The Â鶹Դ´ learning model is called competency-based education. But what does that mean? Simply put, competency-based education means there are no assigned class times, no set schedules, and no deadlines. You read, watch videos, and study course materials whenever works for you and your schedule.
Military obligations, family obligations, and a busy life: all of these things take a toll on your time. School should fit into your schedule, not the other way around.Ìý At Â鶹Դ´, entirely online, competency-based programs let you be in the driver's seat of your education.Ìý
Military Appreciation Scholarship
Â鶹Դ´ offers active-duty military personnel, veterans, and their spouses an opportunity to advance their education. It's one small way we can say "thanks" for your service, your sacrifice, and your commitment to our country's future.Ìý
Military Spouse Scholarship
Moves and deployments greatly impact your ability to achieve a degree, but Â鶹Դ´ can help you maintain your education on the go with our flexible, online education. Spouses of active duty military personnel, veterans, guard, and reservists are qualified to receive a Military Spouse Scholarship for $4,000 ($1,000 for up to 4 terms) towards an online degree with Â鶹Դ´.Ìý
Active Duty Scholarship
While military tuition assistance (TA) benefits are available to help service members reach their educational goals, sometimes that financial boost is not enough. Â鶹Դ´'sÌýActive Duty ScholarshipÌýis designed to help fill the gap between TA benefit amounts and Â鶹Դ´'s tuition. Active-duty military personnel are eligible to apply.
Gold Star Family Scholarship
Paying for college isn’t easy, especially after losing a loved one. Having to worry about how to afford tuition when you’ve lost your service member while they were serving isn’t something anyone should have to do. Â鶹Դ´ and The Woody Williams Foundation have made it our mission to honor the fallen by helping their surviving spouse and/or children pay for school.
Reimagine the Path to Your Degree at Â鶹Դ´
Student Flexibility
Competency-based education at Â鶹Դ´ puts the student in the driver's seat of their education.
- Efficient: Education pathways are focused on learning, not seat time. Students are able to spend time on areas where they need more understanding and accelerate where they already have knowledge.
- Flexible: Study happens whenever and wherever it works best for students. Â鶹Դ´ learning resources are available 24/7, anywhere there is internet access.
- Individualized: Every student is different. At Â鶹Դ´, we believe the learning experience should be built around students.
- Supportive: Students have a whole team of navigators along for the ride—faculty, staff, even fellow students.
Affordable
Low, flat-rate tuition and the opportunity to accelerate programs allow students to have more control of total costs.
- Low tuition: Our commitment to helping students graduate with less debt starts with low tuition.
- Flat rate: Â鶹Դ´â€™s flat-rate tuition links time and cost. This is central to how competency-based education can save students money: By accelerating through courses in which they are already proficient, students can graduate faster with less costs.
Worthwhile
Â鶹Դ´ is about real-world results—providing students an impressive return on their investment.
- Return on Investment: Our special model of online learning is designed for the working adult, and our commitment to keep costs down means better ROI for our graduates.
- Competencies:ÌýStudents will gain the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in their careers. Our competency-based approach is widely recognized by employers because it’s an approach used by most corporations as the basis for promotions and advancement.
- Mastery: A degree from Â鶹Դ´ tells employers that our grads are proven experts and will be invaluable additions to their teams. After all, they earned their degrees by proving they've mastered the competencies that employers are looking for in an employee.
Accredited, Respected,ÌýRecognizedâ„¢
One important measure of a degree’s value is the reputation of the university where it was earned. When employers, industry leaders, and academic experts hold your alma mater in high esteem, you reap the benefits of that respect. Â鶹Դ´ is a pioneer in reinventing higher education for the 21st century, and our quality has been recognized.
