Applied AI Certificate
This certificate includes two online courses. The first course builds a foundation in generative AI concepts, responsible use, and everyday professional applications. The second course builds on that foundation to help you break down work tasks and create AI-automated workflows.
Generative AI Skills is a prerequisite for AI Task Automation, so you’ll complete the courses in order.

In this course, you’ll build foundational knowledge of AI and how to use it effectively in professional settings. You’ll explore how large language models work, how generative AI differs from other forms of AI, and how prompts and training data shape AI outputs.
You’ll also learn to identify AI risks, apply safeguards for responsible use, and evaluate whether AI is appropriate for a given task. In a final project, you’ll use an AI tool to produce a work product, document the parameters you used, and reflect on the value that AI added.
In this course, you’ll learn to break routine work tasks into their component steps and determine which are suited for AI automation. You’ll examine the characteristics and risk factors that make a task component a strong or poor candidate for automation.
Then you’ll put your skills into practice by designing prompts that produce structured outputs, building multistep AI-automated workflows, and refining and documenting them to improve the quality, relevance, and accuracy of results.
